“Dawn Robinson” 1999 ( Prismacolors ). This was a member of R&B singers EnVogue. The reference for this caricature was a popular photo in Vibe Magazine. I'm using the color of the paper to add a tint to the image.
Left Eye drawn in 2000. I intended to eventually complete this piece in color. But I never went back to it.
“Halle and her Berries” 2000 ( Prismacolors ). A bad pun for a decent drawing. If this were to be done for an actual client, I would have drawn the strawberries properly.
Here is a caricature of Daniel Craig done in 2013. Frankly, this was just a test to see if I could still draw after being inactive for so long. Not bad, I think.
“Toni Braxton” 1999 ( Prismacolors ). If I could draw this picture all over again, I'd ask someone else to do it for me because this one really wore me out. It's based on the "You're Making Me High" video.
“Sharon Stone 1998” ( China Marker ). This is a sketched caricature on newsprint that I never got around to fleshing out in color.
“Lil' Kim 1998” ( Prismacolors ). For years I wanted to do a Lil' Kim caricature, but couldn't think of the right pose for her. So I combined comic character Lil' Abner with Daisy Mae and got a cheesy result. Done.
“Jennifer Lopez 2000” ( Prismacolors ). The pose is based on the "Waiting for Tonight" video. This is another drawing that wore me out.
“Bai Ling 2012” (China marker). This was a recent attempt at using china markers again. And at drawing by hand.
“The Cat Lady 2013” ( Ebony graphite ). Do we all have a friend who likes cats a little too much? Or is that just me who has that friend? ( I'm just asking... )
“Karen Hunter” 2011 (Prismacolor). After discarding the Prismacolors for a number of years, I decided to use them in rendering my favorite publisher/talk show host/cool motivator. It's not the best caricature I've done of her, but it's okay. At least I’m still drawing, even if it is once every three to four years.
In 2018 there was a little annual event called the Super Bowl that folks publicly denounced for a variety of reasons. One was for the way singer Janet Jackson was disrespected by the NFL for her incident during a prior Super Bowl many years ago. So on Febuary 4, 2018 (the day of the big game), the internet declared it to be “Janet Jackson Appreciation Day”. This drawing was my contribution to the cause.
